It’s Yankee Candle Time!

You will have  received the order form and catalog for our fall Yankee Candle Fundraiser earlier this week.

Remember, in addition to sharing your catalog with friends and family (for ordering and pick up through the school), you can encourage them to place orders online for home delivery – a great option for those that live far away but want to support your efforts.  The orders submitted via Bucher PTO will be available for pick up on December 3, but you are welcome to order online and ship to your home for the best selection and faster arrival.

You can email the candle fundraiser information with a letter like this one:

Join us for a family evening at the MONSTER BOOK FAIR!

  • Purchase books with and for the whole family!
  • Hear Bucher staff members read their favorite books!
  • Check out the “Teacher Wish List” board to donate a book to your child’s classroom!

HEY, KIDS!! The more adults you bring, the more chances you’ll get to win a FREE poster of your choice from the Book Fair!! Get 1 chance for every adult you bring – 2 chances for every grandparent!

Come to the Fair during the Day: Monday, Oct 5 – Friday, Oct 9

Your children can purchase books during their class’ assigned time OR before school (8:30 – 9:00am).

Come to the Fair at Night: Monday Oct 5th is “Families @ the Fair” – Drop in from 5:30pm – 7:00pm to visit our library for the Monster Book Fair! Purchase books with and for your whole family.

  • Hear Bucher staff members read their favorites. Participate in fun games and activities.
  • Check out the “Teacher Wish List” board to donate a book to your child’s classroom. Students receive a chance to win a poster from Scholastic for EVERY adult they bring – 2 chances for EVERY grandparent they bring!
  • Come to the Fair ON-LINE! Extended Dates: Sept 30th – Oct 16th.  All booked up during Fair Week: Visit Bucher’s on-line book fair. Find a larger selection of books for the whole family (preschool – adult). Share our Book Fair with long-distance family by sending them wish lists. All orders ship to the school for FREE and each purchase benefits Bucher Elementary!!

Fall Book Fair Volunteers Needed

Help is needed for our fall book fair. Volunteers are needed from September 30 to October 9.  We would love your help to make our FALL BOOK FAIR a success!!

  • Are you interested in helping during the school day or in the evening during the Families at the Fair event?
  • Do you enjoy helping children pick out books?
  • Do you want to help set up or dismantle the Fair?
  • Do you love to run a cash register?
  • Do you want to help customers during busy periods?
  • No matter your interest, we have a spot for you!!

Your help is so vital to the Fair that if you sign up to help during one or more time slots below, you’ll receive a $5 gift certificate to use at the Book Fair!

*** In order to help during the school day, you do need CLEARANCES through the District Office.  ***  Click here for more information about clearances.  It usually takes a few weeks for clearances to be processed and received, so your clearances will likely be valid for the next PTO event, not the Fall Book Fair.

If you do not have CLEARANCES, you can help at our Family Night on Monday October 5th 5:30 – 7:00pm!!

Volunteer

Volunteers are always needed to work the fair.  Sign up here!  If you plan to sign up for daytime hours, you are required to have your clearances.  Contact Dana McFarland or Christine Taliani with questions.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed

The Spring Book Fair dates have been announced (May!) and we will need your help to give all students a chance to peruse and purchase books.  If you have your clearances, please consider signing up for an in-school session.  No clearances?  There are evening sessions available where you can help!

Box Tops Due, Update on Taste of Bucher

Box Tops for this submission period are due on February 23rd.  Remember to submit your Box Tops by sending them in with your student – they can be placed in the Box Tops box inside the school.  Any additional Box Tops can still be turned in throughout the year, and will be submitted over the summer.

Taste of Bucher

New Box Tops Collection Bin!  

boxtopWe are excited to announce that there is a New Box Top Collection Bin for the students in the hallway next to the Nurses office!
Thank you to all of the families that sent in your Box Tops!  We have received almost $100 in box tops since the students came back from break!  Our goal for the school year is $1000.00.  We know that our school can reach our goal!  A new collection form will be sent home in soon, so please send in your box tops either on the next form or in a baggie.  For those wondering, there will be no contests run for the classes so please send your box tops in before the next submission in March.
Your child will be able to start depositing them into the collection bin starting on Monday!

Target Debit & Credit Card Users

Do you have a Target debit or credit card? Did you know you can designate Bucher to receive up to 1% of your purchases through Target’s Take Charge of Education program? You can learn more at www.Target.com/tcoe.  Only 14 Target cards currently designate Bucher as the school to receive Target’s Take Charge of Education money, and this September Bucher received about $400 from Target. Thank you Target shoppers!

This does not impact your reward points, but sends additional money to Bucher!  Here’s where you sign up.

FAMILY NIGHT AT THE FALL BOOK FAIR is tonight in the school library from 5:30 – 7:30pm and will feature fun activities, special guest readers, and of course a great selection of books to buy for our young readers.

GIANT A+ SCHOOL REWARDS: Congratulations to the Suliveras Family who won the Bucher $25 Giant Gift Card Raffle. Remember, designating Bucher as your school for Giant A+ School Rewards does not affect the Giant Bonus Points you receive and use for gas discounts and free turkeys! It’s completely separate. Giant Food Stores has set aside $3,000,000 to award to participating schools – the more Giant Bonus Cards that designate Bucher as their school, the bigger percentage of that money Bucher will receive. Giant A+ School Rewards program runs October 5, 2014 – March 21, 2015. Bring your Giant Bonus Card tonight to Family Night at the Book Fair to designate Bucher or go online to: www.giantfoodstores.com/aplus. Our school code is 02042.
